Travel Tips

Visa

Normally foreign nationalities required Visa to enter India/Kerala. You can contact with the Indian Embassy located in your country or Indian High commission office in your country. Please contact us to find out the nearest Embassy & procedure to get Indian Visa in your Country.  We advise you to carry your visa for entry to India/Kerala on your holiday. In case if you required to extend your visa please contact the Commisioner of Police (in cities) and the District Superintendent of Police (in districts).

Hotel Check-in
As per Indian Law upon check in every foreign nationality need to submit their passport copies to hotel in order to fill report for Commissioner of Police. Please keep enough copies of your passport & visa while traveling in India.

Money

There is no limit to the amount of foreign currency that visitors can bring. You can exchange your foreign currency to Indian Money from any authorized money exchange counters or nationalized bank. Beware of dealing with touts on dealing with money exchange. Banks are open for transaction from 10:00 - 14:00 hrs on week days and from 10:00 - 12:00 hrs on Saturdays.

Credit Cards

Main hotels, restaurants and shopping centres honor all major credit cards. It is recommendable to inform your bank that you are traveling to India and you will be using your credit card in India or else bank may block your credit card.

Touts

Always remember you will be crowded with touts anywhere else you go in India. It is better avoiding all touts for safety reason. You need to firmly say them that you are not interested. 

People

Kerala is a 100% literate state; it is not so difficult to find out some one who talks English in the street. Naturally people are shy, and respect tourist. If some one stare at you, don’t misunderstand they have a natural affection for foreign nationals. They believe in theory that “Athithi devo Bava”. It means guest is god.

High season: December - May
Monsoon Rejuvenation programmes: June – November (This season is really recommendable those who are seeking Ayurvedic Health Holidays).

Recommendable Travel Kit

Cotton outfit and hats, sunglasses, sunscreen lotion etc.

Drugs

Avoid using or carrying narcotic drugs .Heavy penalities including imprisonment for possession of narcotic drugs.


Ayurveda

Use the service of only genuine  Ayurvedic  centres that are classified/approved by the Department of Tourism


Food

All standard restaurants offer a variety of cuisines including Continental, Chinese, Indian and typical Kerala fare. Any how we are recommending you to restrain from street foods.


Water

 Compare to the other states in the nation Tap water is purified and quite safe to drink. It is not advisable to drink water from slow moving streams, lakes or dams.  Drink bottled mineral  water instead.

Temple codes

Some temples do not permit entry to non-Hindus. Strict dress codes are followed in most of the temples. Footwear is banned inside the temple premises

Nudity

Nudity is not allowed in any Kerala beach.

Smoking

Smoking is banned in public places

Footwear in houses

Visitors to most Kerala houses leave their footwear outside before entering the house.

Demonstrativeness in public

Behaviour demonstrating affection in public like hugging or kissing is not an accepted practice in Kerala.

Wildlife sanctuaries

To visit a wildlife sanctuary, prior permission has to be taken from the concerned authority of the sanctuary.
